Welcome
Octato | 2018-2025
Co-Founder - Chief Creative and Technical Officer

Octato was founded by Jacob Honoré and me to create games that tell meaningful stories through atmosphere and gameplay.

Our goal was to build a single fictional world where we could continue telling stories across multiple games—games that would stay with players long after they had been completed.

Our first game, Airhead, was released on all major platforms in early 2024. It received great reviews, but unfortunately not enough to kickstart production on the next game set in the Airhead universe.

In the meantime, we have completed two premium mobile titles slated for release in 2025. Unfortunately, we are not yet able to share any public details about these projects.

Technical Artist

Visuals with a cohesive style that aligns with the overall theme.

With extensive experience in both the creative and technical aspects of development, I excel at bridging the gap between artistry and technology, ensuring that visuals look stunning and deliver high performance while always serving the game’s vision.

VFX

I strive to create stunning and subtle visuals at the right moments, ensuring that effects are impactful when needed - such as during a character's most powerful spectral spell - and subtle when enhancing the atmosphere, like the falling of leaves at a funeral.

I possess in-depth knowledge of particle systems, dynamic mesh programming, simulations, and creating content from external software, as well as implementing everything into gameplay to bring digital worlds to life.

My expertise includes advanced techniques for creating both lifelike content and artistic visuals, such as claymation-inspired effects for unique projects.

Graphic Programming

I played a central role in developing and optimizing the render pipeline for Airhead, ensuring stunning visuals and strong performance.

The pipeline included volumetric lighting, baked shadowmaps, custom light shaders, ambient occlusion with world-space grains, transparent shadows, and realistic mirror and water systems.

To support the artistic vision, I created custom post-effects, including world-space grain and fast bloom, while optimizing for all major platforms, including the Nintendo Switch.

Tools

Building and optimizing tools has always been a cornerstone of my work, enabling teams to focus on creativity rather than technical hurdles.

I have developed user-friendly solutions that allow non-technical artists to utilize complex effects and shaders with ease. These tools simplify workflows, automate processes, and make it intuitive to import or generate graphical content directly within the game engine.

In addition to enhancing existing tools like Blender and Unity, I have created custom pipelines and interfaces that streamline asset integration and enable rapid iteration.

PORTFOLIO

I’ve spent most of my career working in a wide range of styles, adapting to different projects and creative visions. Whether it’s hyper-detailed environments, clean and functional designs, or playful and expressive visuals, I thrive on bringing ideas to life in whatever form they need to take.

But when I create for myself, I tend to lean toward the stylized—bold shapes, striking colors, and a strong sense of atmosphere. I love exploring unique aesthetics that balance simplicity with depth, always looking for ways to push artistic expression in new directions.

No matter the medium, my goal is always the same: to craft visuals that engage, inspire, and tell a story.
